Punjab :Origin of Name

The word “Punjab” is a combination of two words Panj means five and Aab means water. These two words are taken from the Persian literature. Hence the state is also called as the land of five rivers. The word “Punjab” is mentioned in the second volume Aeen-e-Akbari.
